The Venture Community started as a partnership between Luke Norsworthy, Richland Hills Church of Christ, Golf Course Road Church of Christ and Phil Claycomb of Nexus Church Planting to reach people in Denton County with the message of Jesus. We believe that God has been at work in Denton long before we arrived, but we also have a sense of calling that God is doing something new through this church plant. The Norsworthys moved to the Metroplex in the Fall of 2008 to come on staff at Richland Hills for the purpose of developing the strategic plan for Venture. In January of 2009, Venture gathered a group for the first time in Denton to start the process of casting the vision for this church. We met a total of four times for vision-casting meetings before we transitioned this group of interested people into our first small group in May. As we continued to build our launch team, we started our second small group and then met for preview worship services in July, August and September. With the necessary small groups infrastructure in place, Venture launched her weekly services in October.
