The Venture Community started as a partnership between Luke Norsworthy, The Hills Church of Christ, Golf Course Road Church of Christ and Phil Claycomb of Nexus Church Planting to reach people in Denton County with the message of Jesus. We believe that God has been at work in the Denton area long before we arrived, but we also have a sense of calling that God is doing something new through this church plant. The Norsworthys moved from Florida to the Metroplex in the Fall of 2008 to come on staff at Richland Hills for the purpose of developing the strategic plan for Venture. In January of 2009, Venture gathered a group for the first time in Denton to start the process of casting the vision for this church. Later that year we transitioned this group of interested people into our first small group. We continued to build a core team and the Norsworthy’s moved to Denton in the summer of 2009. We held preview services in the fall of 2009. And in January of 2010 Venture had her official grand opening.
